finally looks like the Horizontal theme is finished, there is only one problem that I can't solve yet: the menu (and every other onclick event) doesn't close onclick anymore.
however this isn't a big problem, I can stand it and still survive happily! today I'm rearranging the structure of the website, grouping hidden pages of a hidden section with a visual index page: e.g. archive/tools > groups pages from the tool section. Now, the interesting fact is that some of those pages are themselves grouping other hidden sections!
all this means that it's definitely possible to have a virtual multilevel structure! I'm going to check it better, but I'm pretty sure that I can achieve my task and have a "macro" group for images, containing photos, graphic and whatever else I like to, and each of these will contain many more single and/or visualindex pages! :-)

- Visual index(es)
the plugin visual_index which was so promising when I first made it run here, has revealed a fatal weak point: it doesn't show the thumbs in ie7!
therefore I'm not going to loose any other time on it, just keep it as a reference. the famous exhibit_visual_index which I've promptly grabbed from the lost forum thread is worth to spend some more time on it, as it's the only solution I can have now to accomplish my task, as mentioned above. Just hope to order the images as my menu order instead of the chronological...
looks like you're using internet explorer 6, better upgrade it!
