This is an experimental preview of an installation project composed by a computer and a 700x100cm backlighted texture made by 1:1 reproductions of 1.000 black and white 7x10 sheet negatives, each a different studio portrait done for document purpose, mainly identity cards.
The computer monitor shows the same negatives and the corresponding list numbered according to the original negatives. By clicking on the image or number the user will see the positive image and, if they are recorded by the software system, the data regarding that particular person.

These negatives are part of a former photographic studio archive, counting more than 200.000 negatives and covering about 50 years of the town's life, approximately from the fifties to the end of the last century.installazione - parete luminosa

The project aim is to give back to citizens the memory of persons how they were, giving to users the chance to look for and print a specific photo through archive numbers stamped in the rear side of old prints or to research by period of time, and to give back names and data to otherwise unknown faces.

Lo scopo del progetto è quello di restituire ai cittadini la memoria delle persone così come erano, dando agli utenti la possibilità di cercare e stampare una specifica foto attraverso i numeri d'archivio timbrati sul retro delle vecchie stampe fotografiche, o di ricercare per periodo di tempo, restituendo così nomi e dati a delle facce altrimenti anonime.
